Malayalam actor and producer Vijay Babu, who has been arrested in an alleged case of sexual assault, is the founder of the film production company Friday Film House.
The 46-year-old is best known for producing and starring in the films Philips and the Monkey Pen (2013), Peruchazhi (2014), Aadu (2015), Adi Kapyare Kootamani (2015), Mudhugauv (2016), Angamaly Diaries (2017), Aadu 2 (2017), June (2019), Sufiyum Sujatayum (2021), and Home (2021).
In 2014, he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Children’s Film (as producer) for his production firm for Philips and the Monkey Pen.

Sufiyum Sujatayum, produced by him under his banner Friday Film House, is the first Malayalam film to have a direct release on an OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video.
His production house won seven of the Kerala state film awards in various fields in 2014.
Vijay Babu’s net worth was estimated to be about $1 million (more than Rs 7.6 cr) in 2021.
His father’s name is Subash Chandra Babu, and his mother’s name is Maya Babu. Vijayalakshmi Suraj is his sister. According to reports, Vijay Babu is married to Smitha Vijay.
Vijay attended St. Jude School in Kollam and Loyola College in Chennai for his education. In Mumbai, he began his media career with STAR India. Later he left his join and started his own business in Dubai. He later returned to India and joined Asianet and Sitara TV in Hyderabad as the COO. Vijay went to Kerala in 2009 and took the role of the Vice President of Surya TV.

Recently, he has been surrounded by controversies as he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman, who is also an actor.
On June 22, he was granted anticipatory bail by the Kerala High Court. While granting the bail plea, the Kerala HC asked him not to leave the state and to submit his passport.
