The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced that it has postponed the board exams for class 12 while the board exams for class 10 have been cancelled. The move comes amid growing demands to put these key examinations on hold in wake of a spike in COVID-19 numbers. Results of Class 10 will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board.
Last year, Class 10 and 12 exams were curtailed with students being assessed on internal exams in a few papers. According to the Union Health Ministry’s data, India on Tuesday reported 184,372 new cases of COVID-19 while 1,027 people died of the disease in the past 24 hours. With this, India’s caseload stands at 13,873,825, including 172,085 deaths.
