The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) has not made any announcement regarding the cancellation of its board examinations and is yet to decide whether ICSE students will sit for the exams amid a raging pandemic. On Wednesday, the Central Board of Secondary Education cancelled Class 10 exam and postponed that of Class 12.

Last week, thousands of students had petitioned the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which is scheduled to conduct Class 10 ICSE and Class 12 ISC exams from 4 May, but the Council had said there would be no change in the schedule. Now, with the CBSE announcing the cancellation/postponement of exams, CISCE board students are waiting for some update.
The CBSE cancelled the board exams for class 10 and postponed the exams for class 12. Results of class 10 will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board.

“The board exams for class 10 are cancelled. The result will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion developed by the board,” a Ministry of Education (MoE) official said.
Notably, many political leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, had urged the central government to postpone the board exams amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Last year, class 10 and 12 exams were curtailed with students being assessed on internal exams in a few papers.
India, on Tuesday, recorded its highest-ever single-day spike of 184,372 new cases of COVID-19, the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday showed. 1,027 people died of the disease in the past 24 hours. With this, India’s caseload stands at 13,873,825, including 172,085 deaths.
