Answer: Domestic Short-Hair

The domestic shorthair cat is one of the most popular pets in the US with an approximate 80 million in the states out of the estimated 600 million around the world.

In fact, the great majority, almost 95%, of US cats are considered domestic shorthairs.

These cats possess a coat of short fur, not belonging to any particular recognised cat breed.

Known as “moggie” by the English, the cats have a blended ancestry.

Domestic Shorthairs don’t tend to be at-risk for any unusual health complications due to their mixed parentage. However, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals emphasizes that they may be prone to overeating.

These cats can be playful, affectionate, quiet, vocal, docile, or calm. The Domestic Shorthair is considered a working cat because of her endurance skills, such as balancing and leaping. They’ve also been called “alley cats,” although that term tends to have a negative connotation.

The common color of these cats are the tabby colours (silver, brown, blue, and red), are commoner. While colors such as blue cream, are infrequently found in shorthairs.

Their eyes can be a variety of colors too. They can be blue, green, brown, hazel, or two different colors, which is a striking look for a cat.
