Kaalan Walker, actor-rapper who was seen in the 2018 movie ‘Superfly’, was sentenced to 50 years to life in state prison for sexual assault charges involving three teenagers and four young women from 2013. The 27-year-old has been ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Wallace told City News Service.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said Walker had “three counts of forcible rape, two counts of statutory rape and two counts of rape by intoxication,” according to a report from the Los Angeles Times. He was arrested in 2018 and a Vans Nuys jury convicted him.

The jury concluded that the rapper was guilty of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and rape of an intoxicated victim. It also charged him with one count of assault with intent to commit oral copulation. The crimes occurred between 2013 and 2018.

“You’re going to see a dark side of him …” Deputy District Attorney Yasmin Fardghassemi told the jurors in March. She added that Walker used his Instagram and Twitter accounts to lure his alleged victims. He made false promises of  photo or music video shoots or introducing them to someone famous.

“When they said ‘Stop,’ he didn’t care,” Fardghassemi said.

Walker’s attorney, Andrew Flier, however, maintained that he was innocent.

“They’re going to lie to you because they know that they fell for his B.S.,”  the defense lawyer told jurors.

“The pattern of Mr. Walker is to make false promises, and they bought it… Each one of these women voluntarily made their own decisions. He didn’t force them… It’s pay-back to Mr. Walker and we’re not going to let that happen,” Flier added.

“I didn’t rape anybody, your honor! I did not rape anybody,” the actor said he was led away in handcuffs.
