February’s last weekend is just around the corner and while some people would prefer going out for brunches and parties, some of would want to just sit back, order some food online and binge on some movies or series to cool off the week’s stress.

Here are five movies/series to watch this weekend:

Nomadland

Written and directed by Chloe Zhao, the film shows a woman losing everything in the Great Recession and embarking on a journey through West America, living like a nomad in a van.  Frances McDormand as usual gives a powerful performance and makes this a must watch.

Drishyam 2

Starring Mohanlal and directed by Jeethu Joseph, this is the continuation of the first part and tells the story of how the protagonist protects his family at all costs.

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel

Directed by Joe Berlinger, the series tells the story of  the disappearance of college student and tourist Elisa Lam in the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, only to be later found dead in the water tank of the same hotel. Berlinger is behind projects like Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes and the Paradise Lost trilogy.

Sound of Metal

Directed by Darius Marder, ‘Sound of Metal’ is about a heavy metal drummer’s life after he begins to lose his hearing. Riz Ahmed gives a brilliant performance and is also nominated for the Golden Globes for the role.

Brooklyn 99

The beloved comedy series created by Dan Goor and Michael Schuris coming to an end with the makers announcing the last season. It only makes sense to binge watch the last season to catch up on our favourite cops.
