Notre Dame Fighting Irish overcame the challenge against the
Wisconsin Badgers even as their quarterback Jack Coan went off the field with
an apparent leg injury in the third quarter on Saturday.

Brian Kelly became the most successful coach in Notre Dame history with victory number 105, surpassing Knute Rockne in his 12th season with the Irish.

 Coan limped off the
field after a third-down the Fighting Irish were unable to convert. He first went
to the locker room, with what appeared to be a left leg injury, halfway through
the third quarter. The game was tied at 10 at that point in time.

The Fighting Irish played the rest of the game without their
quarterback and went on to win it 41-13.

The senior transfer from Wisconsin went to the medical tent
on the sideline, and then after trying to make a warm-up throw walked slowly
toward the tunnel with a member of the Notre Dame staff.

Drew Pyne replaced Coan on Notre Dame’s next offensive
series.

Coan played 22 games for Wisconsin over three seasons and was the starter for the 2019 team that reached the Big Ten championship game. He broke his foot in the runup to the abbreviated Big Ten season last year and Mertz claimed the starting job.

Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz had a horror show in the first half as he failed to string even a single touchdown pass.

Mertz hasn’t had the best of outings for some time now. He is yet to register even a single TD pass in his last six starts. He threw four interceptions for Wisconsin in the game, including two that were returned for touchdowns in the final 2:30 to blow the game open.
