this edition of the Emmy Awards.

First win for a trans actor

MJ Rodriguez became the first trans woman to be nominated
for an Emmy in a lead acting category. She has a good chance of taking home the
best actress trophy thanks to her brilliant performance in Pose. However,
she will face tough competition from The Crown star Emma Corrin. She is only

Netflix to win an Outstanding Series Emmy

It has been eight years since Netflix entered the
programming game. Although, a number of its shows have managed to register Emmy
wins the streaming giant has been eluded of an Emmy for Outstanding Series.
This seems unbelievable considering the popularity and quality of its shows. It
might be able to break this bad streak if either of ‘The Crown’ or The
Queen’s Gambit
manage to win the award in their respective categories.

Posthumous win for Michael K. Williams

Williams was found dead in his apartment on September 6. He
will always be remembered for his role as Omar Little on HBO’s hit series ‘The
Wire’. He has been nominated for best supporting actor in a drama series for
his role in Lovecraft Country. This is his fifth nomination for the
award, he had not managed to win on the previous four occasions. However, he is
widely regarded as the favourite to win this year.

Netflix Record

In order to set the all-time record for most Emmy wins in a
year, the streaming service needs to accumulate 11 award wins this year. That
would help them beat the present record holders CBS.
