Former General Hospital star Steve Burton and his wife Sheree Burton are separated after 23 years of marriage.

Taking to Instagram, the 51-year-old actor said that he and his 47-year-old wife are no longer together.

“I wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated,” he wrote.

“She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve,” he continued.

Burton and the fitness pro met on the set of General Hospital and tied the knot in 1999.

They share daughters Makena, 18, and Brooklyn, 7, as well as son Jack, 16.

Sheree recently announced her pregnancy when she posted a photo on Instagram, holding her baby bump.

“Life sure is full of surprises!” she captioned it.

Last year, Burton was let go from General Hospital for not complying with the show’s coronavirus vaccine mandate. He played the character of Jason Morgan since 1991.

“I know there’s been a lot of rumors and speculation about me and ‘General Hospital,’ and I wanted you to hear it from me personally. Unfortunately, ‘General Hospital’ has let me go because of the vaccine mandate. I did apply for my medical and religious exemptions, and both of those were denied, which, you know, hurts,” he had said in a video at the time.

He continued, “But this is also about personal freedom to me. I don’t think anyone should lose their livelihood over this. But with that being said, you know me, I’ll always be grateful for my time at General Hospital, I love it there.”

General Hospital is the longest-running show in the history of American soap operas, with over 14,000 episodes since its debut in 1963.
