Actor R Madhavan, who has made his mark in both Hindi and regional cinema and is fondly called Maddy by his fans, has turned 51 on Tuesday. For someone, who is known for his simplicity and infectious smile, is truly aging like a wine fine and his social media posts are testimony of that.

His movies are equally impactful and have created his own fan base over the years after all who can forget Maddy from the film ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’, a character that has made a place in every viewer’s heart. ‘Minnale’ – ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’

‘Minnale’ has been directed by Gautam Menon and the 2002 film depicts a story of a man who falls in love with a woman and cons his way into her heart through lies. Madhavan and Reema Sen played the lead role in this Tamil romantic drama.

‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ was inspired by ‘Minnale’. The film was the Bollywood debut of R. Madhavan along with Dia Mirza, who was also making his entry in Bollywood after her win at a beauty pageant. The movie went on to achieve the status of a cult over the period.

‘Alaipayuthey’ – ‘Saathiya’

‘Alaipayuthey’, released in 2000, is a Tamil romantic drama by Mani Ratnam. The film also starred actress Shalini. ‘Saathiya’ was then remade in the Hindi language in 2002 and had a casting of Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles.

‘Run’ – ‘Run’

This 2002 Indian Tamil-language romantic action film starred R. Madhavan and Meera Jasmine in lead roles. It was a love story. The movie was later remade in the Hindi language with the same name featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Bhumika Chawla and directed by Jeeva.

‘3 Idiots’ – ‘Nanban’

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, ‘3 Idiots’ is a critically acclaimed Hindi film released in 2009. The film went on breaking all records and was appreciated for a brilliant performance by Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi. The film was based on Chetan Bhagat’s book ‘Five Point Someone and talked about friendship.

‘Nanban’ was the Tamil-language remake of ‘3 idiots’ and was directed by Shankar. It had Vijay, Jiiva, and Srikanth in pivotal roles.
