Knives Out 2 will premiere on December 23, 2022, on Netflix. Rian Johnson, the director of the movie got inspired by a 1968 Beatles song, Glass Onion, and announced the title of the film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. 

Detective Benoit Blanc’s (Daniel Craig) next investigation has started, and it appears that he will be moving from Massachusetts to the Mediterranean shores of Greece. Filming of Knives Out 2 started in the Mediterranean coastlines of Greece, according to a tweet from director Rian Johnson on June 28, 2021.

The director tweeted, “Aaaaaaaand WE’RE OFF! Day one of filming on the next Benoit Blanc mystery. Thanks to all the lovely patient people here in Greece for letting us do all this murdering on their peaceful shores”. 

Shooting locations are reported to be in Spetses, an affluent island off the northeastern Peloponnese coast, and nearby Porto Heli, in the Greek Riviera. Johnson described the shoot as “a summer vacation where we also made a movie”. The filming of the movie was officially wrapped on September 12, 2021, as per Wikipedia. 

Daniel Craig will reprise his role of Benoit Blanc, a clever private investigator. Craig’s character has been compared to Agatha Christie’s most famous creation, Hercule Poirot. Johnson’s mystery sequel cast will be joined by Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, and Jessica Henwick. Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter that audiences should, “think of it just like another Hercule Poirot novel from Agatha Christie, so a whole new location, whole new cast”.

Knives Out, released in 2019 grossed $311.5 million at the global box office. As per Variety, Netflix brought the rights to Knives Out 2 and Knives Out 3 for more than $450 million.
