Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, a sequel to the 2019 film Knives Out, will land on Netflix later this year. The flick will be the second part of the franchise, which has been written and directed by Rian Johnson during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Rian Johnson introduced the film in the Princess of Wales Theater and said, “Part of the real pleasure of it for me is having a whodunit that’s not a period piece but set in modern America and that fully engages with whatever’s on people’s minds at the time hopefully in a way that’s still completely encased within an entertainment”. “I hope we pulled that off again.”

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, follows a group of friends who are invited to a private island for a sick murder mystery party but they actually end up being in a real murder chaos. Detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, solves the murder mystery case. The film also highlights the themes of economic disparity, class warfare and power. Through the eccentric plot, cinematography and picturesque location of Greece, Rian Johnson has again proved himself to be a film disruptor of the highest order.
A teaser trailer of the film was released on September 8 on the official YouTube channel of Netflix and it has garnered over 10 million views in just six days. Rian Johnson had also shared the same on his Twitter and captioned it “Aaaand here it is! The first teaser trailer for the follow up to Knives Out, GLASS ONION! I promise no spoilers, but if you want to come in totally cold, last chance to keep scrolling”
This sequel has a new cast that includes Dave Bautista, Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Ethan Hawke. Daniel Craig is only the actor from the initial film Knives Out who will be reprising the role of detective Benoit Blanc.
The film will be streamed on Netflix from December 23 and a theatrical release will take place in November.
