The longest running medical drama of all time, Grey’s Anatomy is back with
another season and it is expected to come with plenty of surprises. A lot
happened in season 17 and the Covid-19 storyline came with plenty of shocks.
The character endings and the cliff hangers left the fans scratching their
heads.

Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr, Kevin McKidd,
Camilla Luddington and Kim Rover will return on screen in the next season. While,
Giacomo Gianniotti, Jesse Williams and Greg Germann had their character exits. Apart
from this, there are some surprise additions to the cast for season 18.

Fan favaourite Kate Walsh is set to return as Addison Forbes
Montgomery for a few episodes. The news has been confirmed by ABC as well as
Walsh. For those who are unaware, Addison was a key character in season one’s
finale as Derek Shepherd’s estranged wife. She played a major role in the second
and third season as well. It seems like Walsh is just as excited to be back in
the show as the fans are for her return.

Kate unleashed her excitement by uploading a video on her official
twitter account. The tweet read, “It’s
really happening. Dr. Addison Montgomery will see you shortly #GreysAnatomy
 @GreysABC @Shondaland
@EllenPompeo,”

If that’s not enough, Kate Burton’s return has also been
confirmed. She will return for her role as Meredith’s mother Dr Ellis Grey. It
will be interesting to see how the writers incorporate her return since her
character was pronounced dead in season 3.

Abigail Spencer who was a recurring character, Dr Megan Hunt
in seasons 14 and 15 will be back in upcoming season. She is Owen Hunt’s
younger sister who served as a trauma surgeon in the U.S. Army.

The eighteenth season will premiere on September 30 and the fans
can’t wait to see what’s in store for them.
