On the special occasion of his birthday, here’s a list of some of R. Madhavan’s stellar films –

1. ‘3 idiots’

Farhan Qureshi, an aspiring photographer who ends up studying engineering for the sake of his parents, was played by Madhavan. What he finds most touching about his character is his heartfelt conversation with his father, played by Parikshit Sahni.

Talking about the film, he stated – 

“I have used three different voices…as a narrator, as a student and the time where I, Raju (Sharman) and Chatur (Omi) set on the journey to find Rancho (Aamir Khan).

2. ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’

Twenty years ago, ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ was released. The film, starring Dia Mirza, R Madhavan, and Saif Ali Khan, celebrated all of Bollywood’s problematic tropes, including stalking and abusive behaviour. 

Although ‘Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein’ did not fare well at the box office, what stayed with viewers was the brilliant performance of the young newcomer, who shone with his natural screen presence in the film.

3. ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’

‘Tanu Weds Manu’, a Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama series starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, is one of Bollywood’s most popular franchises. 

The romantic comedy starring Kangana Ranaut as Tanu and Madhavan Rao as Manu is an epic love story directed by Aanand L Rai. 

Madhavan played the role of a man looking for a bride admirably.

4. ‘Breathe’

R Madhavan made his digital debut with the web series ‘Breathe.’ It delves into the life of an ordinary man who finds himself in extraordinary circumstances. 

The show has been described as “the most bizarre yet entertaining show ever created.”

Madhavan’s portrayal of Danny Mascarenhas gained a lot of praise.

5. ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’

The film, which stars Madhavan in the title role, is based on the life of Nambi, a former scientist and aerospace engineer with the Indian Space Research Organization who was involved in a spy scandal. 

R. Madhavan, the multi-talented actor, wrote, directed, and produced this film. 

The biographical drama was shot in multiple languages at the same time, including Hindi, Tamil, and English. The English version made its world premiere at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
