After taking Raj Kundra into custody on Monday for his alleged involvement in making and selling pornographic material, the Mumbai Police said on Tuesday said they haven’t found any active role of his wife, Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty, yet.

“We have not been able to any find any active role (of Shilpa Shetty) yet. We are investigating. We’ll appeal to the victims to come forward and contact the Crime Branch Mumbai. We’ll take appropriate action,” said Milind Bharambe, Joint Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, ANI reported.

The 45-year-old businessman was allegedly involved in the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps. It is alleged that there were several WhatsApp chats that showed that Kundra was involved in the financial dealings of apps and their contents.  

“There was a case registered with the Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this,” police commissioner Hemant Nagrale said in a statement on late Monday night.

The accused persons “made profits in lakhs in this illegal business of making pornographic films and uploading the same via some mobile apps for which subscription fees is taken from viewers,” Mumbai Police said. 

The pornographic content was allegedly uploaded on an app ‘HotShots’ that was developed by Arms Prime Pvt Ltd, a company is owned by the businessman.

Kundra has been booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays), and relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. He appeared in court on Tuesday and was remanded in police custody till July 23.
