JayDaYoungan, an American rapper, was shot dead Wednesday night, Bogalusa Police confirmed at around 11 pm. While some US-based media organisations reported his death minutes after news of the shooting causing a frenzy on social media, official confirmation came much later.

“We can now identify the victims as Javorius Scott, A.K.A. JayDaYoungan and close family member Kenyatta Scott Sr. We can also confirm that Javorius Scott has died as a result of his injuries”, the statement read.

Police also clarified that officials responded to two shooting incidents on Wednesday night. In the second case, “a vehicle was shot” and was possibly linked to the first shooting.

JayDaYoungan’s sister Kenya Janell also confirmed his death after initially denying reports. “Javorious, no way they took you from me like this”, she wrote in a social media post hours after the shooting.
