Kanye West has recently been all over the news because of his anti-Semitic comments on Chris Cuomo’s show, NewsNation. His comments have resulted in West losing his banking relationship with JPMorgan Chase while fashion brand Balenciaga has also cut all ties with him.

The 45-year-old rapper has now appeared in an interview with English presenter Piers Morgan, where he said that the concept behind Django Unchained, the 2012 revisionist Western movie by Quentin Tarantino, was actually his idea. West had teamed up with Jamie Foxx for the 2005 song Gold Digger, and according to the former, he had pitched the idea of a slavery-themed story for the song’s music video.

On the show Piers Morgan Uncensored, the rapper said, “Tarantino can write a movie about slavery where – actually him and Jamie, they got the idea from me because the idea for Django, I pitched to Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino as the video for ‘Gold Digger'”.

Tarantino, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Django Unchained, has not mentioned anywhere that the initial idea had come from West, as the latter alleges.

Despite suffering financial setbacks because of his comments, West has not backed down or shown any sign of stopping. In a recent interview with TMZ, the Donda hitmaker said, “The day I was taken off the Balenciaga site, that was one of the most freeing days.” He further said that organisations cancelling him were doing so to “score points”, further adding, “We here, baby. We ain’t going nowhere.”

Besides his anti-Semitic statements, West has also been at the receiving end of criticism following his comments on the death of George Floyd. West alleged on the podcast Drink Champs that Floyd had died because of fentanyl use and not because of Derek Chauvin choking him with a knee on his throat. Floyd’s family is now planning to file a $250 million lawsuit against West.
