Balenciaga, the Spanish luxury fashion house has officially cut ties with musician Kanye West over his anti-Semitic comments and insistence that there is nothing wrong with his “White Lives Matter” t-shirts, according to a report from Page Six.

“Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” the brand’s parent company, Kering told Women’s Wear Daily.

The move is sure to shock fans of the luxury brand and the musician alike. Creative director Demna Gvasalia has been close friends with Kanye for many years. The two have collaborated on several products and launches. Most recently, the duo worked on the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collections.

In the past, the Gvasalia and Kanye had paired up to work on creating the listening parties for Donda 2. Gvasalia even designed Kim Kardashian’s 2021 Met Gala look, before she split with the musician in their highly publicized divorce.

Over the past few months Kanye has been making increasingly questionable decisions to the point that even his most diehard fans are wary of the musician. The 21-time Grammy Award winner cut ties with Gap last month, which was then followed by his controversial Yeezy Season 9 fashion show in Paris which marked the debut of his White Lives Matter t-shirt. Predictably, the t-shirts sparked backlash.

Just a day before his Yeezy show, the musician made his runway debut at Balenciaga wearing tactical gear. Interestingly, Kanye has doubled down on his new t-shirts, refusing to back down in numerous interviews.

The musician was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016 but has seemingly taken himself off his meds over the past few years. While Balenciaga has come out against him, his ex-wife hasn’t taken a position, yet.
