Thomas Cup and Uber Cup are prestigious trophies of Badminton. 

The men’s and women’s national teams of the Badminton World Federation’s member associations competed in the 2022 Thomas & Uber Cup, which was officially known as the Total Energies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2022 .

It was the 32nd iteration of the Thomas Cup and the 29th iteration of the Uber Cup (BWF). From May 8 to May 15, 2022, the competition was held in Bangkok, Thailand’s Impact Arena.  Thailand is hosting the Thomas Cup for the third time this year, and the Uber Cup for the second time.

For both the men’s and women’s teams, the defending champions were China and Indonesia.

The Thomas Cup is an international badminton competition between teams representing member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport’s worldwide governing body, also known as the World Men’s Team Championships. Since 1982, when it was changed from being held every three years since the first competition in 1948–1949, the championships have been held every two years.

Women’s national badminton teams compete in the Uber Cup, also known as the World Women’s Team Championships, which is a significant international badminton event. It was first played in 1956–1957 and was played every three years. Since 1984, when its scheduled times and sites were combined with those of Thomas Cup, the global men’s team championship, it has been played every two years. The Badminton World Federation again decided to divide the Thomas and Uber Cup finals in 2007, but the idea was finally dropped. The Uber Cup is named after Betty Uber, a former British women’s badminton player who proposed holding a women’s competition akin to the men’s in 1950. Additionally, she participated in the tournament’s draw, which was held at Lytham in 1956-1957.
