Lizzo has been sued by three of her former dancers as the singer faces accusations of body-shaming, sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment among others.

A lawsuit filed against the songstress on Tuesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court also allege that she pressured a dancer to touch a nude performer at an Amsterdam club. She also allegedly subjected the group to an “excruciating” audition after accusing the members falsely of drinking on the job.

Lizzo is known for embracing body positivity. However, one of her former dancers has accused her of calling attention to one dancer’s weight gain. The same dancer was allegedly later berated and then fired after she recorded a meeting because of a health condition.

Allegations have also been brought against the captain of Lizzo’s dance team Shirlene Quigley by the plaintiffs. Quigley allegedly proselytized to other performers and derided those who had premarital sex. She also reportedly shared lewd sexual fantasies with the members of the team, simulated oral sex and discussing openly about the virginity of one of the plaintiffs, the lawsuit states.

It has not been confirmed if Lizzo was aware of the allegations brought against Quigley. However, Ron Zambrano, the lawyer representing the plaintiffs said that the singer was aware of their complaints about her.

Apart from the abovementioned allegations, the suit also claims allegations of religious and racial harassment, false imprisonment, interference with prospective economic advantage amongst others.

“The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing,” Zambrano said in a statement.

One of the allegations – and perhaps the most damaging one for Lizzo, being the icon of body-positivity that she is – states that Lizzo called attention to a dancer’s weight after an appearance at South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival.

The dancer, identified as Arianna Davis, was told that she seemed “less committed” to her role. The comment, at the time, was understood to be a “thinly veiled” concern about Davis’ weight.
