Mammals, a British comedy-drama created by James Richardson, and starring James Corden released on the OTT platform Amazon Prime on November 11 this year.

The black comedy follows the story of Jamie (James Corden), a Michelin-starred chef, whose world implodes when he discovers shocking secrets about his pregnant wife Amandine (Melia Kreiling). While Jamie starts hunting for answers with his brother-in-law Jeff (Colin Morgan), the latter’s marriage with Lue (Sally Hawkins) falls apart.

 Fleabag

This series, created by Phoebe-Waller Bridge, is based on her 2013 one-woman show of the same name. It follows the story of a dry-witted woman, known to the audience as Fleabag, who navigates her personal and professional life in London while trying to cope with a tragedy. The protagonist frequently breaks the fourth wall to interact with the audience and provides internal monologues and running commentary to the viewers.

The Office

Four years before NBC’s American version of The Office premiered and became one of the greatest shows of all time, Ricky Gervais’ original British mockumentary The Office became one of Britain’s most successful comedy exports. The show follows the daily lives of office employees at the Slough branch of the fictional paper company Wernham Hogg. The show centers on the themes of human behavior, self-confidence, frustration, desperation, and social clumsiness. Gervais plays the role of David Brent, the central character, which was later played by Steve Carell (as Michael Scott) in the American remake.

Sex Education

This British comedy-drama created by Laurie Nunn follows the lives of the students, parents, and teachers of the fictional Moordale Secondary School, located somewhere in England. The series mostly centers on Otis Milburn, a socially-awkward teenager, who sets up a sex therapy clinic along with his romantic interest Maeve Wiley to help the students of Moordale with their personal dilemmas, often related to sexual intimacy.

Extras

Created and written by Ricky Gervais, Extras is a British sitcom that follows the lives of ‘extras’ who work in television, film, and theatre. The show revolves around the lives of three characters – Andy Millman (played by Gervais), his platonic friend Maggie Jacobs, and Andy’s agent and part-time retail employee, Darren Lamb. Millman muddles through life as an out-of-work anonymous background actor who eventually finds success as a B-list sitcom star.

Stath Lets Flats

Created by and starring Jamie Demetriou, the series follows the story of Stath Charalambos, an incompetent and socially crude man who works as a flat-letting agent under his father.
