Mary Jane Thomas met her husband and country music icon Hank Williams Jr. at a 1985 concert, which was organised in Daytona, Florida. The two reportedly married five years later.

Mary Jane Thomas and Willams Jr. had two children Katherine and Samuel. However, Katherine died in a car crash in 2020.

“Who knew that the Beach Beauty would turn out to be a world-class hunter and adventurer? We traveled all over the world on hunts and safaris, but our favorite was hunting right here in Tennessee!” Willams Jr. wrote in a social media post after his wife died earlier this year.

Mary Jane Thomas’ son Sam, 25, released a statement shortly after his mother’s death. It read: My dear Mama Mary Jane was a beautiful soul who forever affected everyone who knew her. She had a smile and presence that lit up every room and she never met a stranger she didn’t befriend. Her spirit was gentle and giving.

According to a report from Information Cradle, Mary Jane Thomas’ net worth is roughly $5 million.

Mary Jane Thomas’ cause of death was revealed by medical examiners after nearly three months of confusion. Thomas, the wife of famed country singer Hank Williams Jr., died on March 22 this year. She was 58.

According to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s report obtained by PEOPLE, Mary Jane Thomas died of a collapsed lung that was punctured during elective surgery the day before. Her cause of death was listed as “accidental” till now.

The autopsy report says Thomas’ death was caused by “perforated parietal pleura during liposuction with autologous fat reinjection procedure.”

According to the medical examiner’s report, she traveled to Jupiter, Florida to get the cosmetic surgery done that month. After getting clearance from her physician, she decided to also remove previous breast implants at Bafitis Plastic Surgery.

The report also clarified that Mary Jane Thomas died in the emergency room of the hospital a day after the surgery. She was “sitting up in bed, speaking normally” before she became unresponsive, PEOPLE reported.

Other findings included in the medical examiner’s report were: Mild brain swelling, mild coronary artery disease and fatty metamorphosis of the liver.

According to a report from the medical journal Science District, the parietal pleura is a thin membrane that connects the chest wall to other tissues. It also facilitates the removal of pleural fluid. According to the autopsy, this thin membrane was punctured in the surgery.
