After the season 4 finale of La Casa de Papel/Money Heist, did you feel emotionally drained and exhausted? We did, too, and we’re revisiting the finale in preparation for the show’s fifth and final season, which premieres on September 13.

After the disastrous ending of Season 3, the rules of the heist have changed dramatically, so we’re spending a lot of the season trying to clean up the mess that was left behind. If you need a refresher on what happened in Money Heist season 4, we’ve got you covered.

In episode 8, titled “Plan París,” everything comes to a head. Colonel Alfonso Prieto and Inspector Alicia Sierra are held responsible for torturing Río in an Algerian secret facility. The Professor summons reinforcements to assist in removing Lisbon from a police van transporting her to court to testify. Gandía, the bodyguard who escaped and—clutches heart—killed Nairobi, is finally apprehended by the thieves.

Working together, the thieves use Gandía to trick the cops into sending a helicopter to rescue him. Instead, Marsella flies in with Lisbon, who drops down to reunite with the thieves. But just as the gang thinks they’ve turned a corner, Alicia discovers the Professor’s hideout and holds him at gunpoint. “Checkmate,” she says.

It’s not game over just yet. We can’t wait to see how the creators tie up the many loose ends come season 5. But for now, let’s try to answer some of season 4‘s biggest questions.

Saving Nairobi’s life

Season 4 of Money Heist picked up right where season 3 left off: Nairobi (Alba Flores) has just been shot on Alicia’s order, and the thieves are rushing her to safety to operate. Tokio (Úrsula Corberó), despite losing their feed to an outside surgeon, successfully removes the bullet and a portion of Nairobi’s lung to save her life.

But after Gandía (José Manuel Poga) escapes, he kidnaps Nairobi, tortures her, and shoots her in the head in episode 6, after claiming he would give her up in exchange for his freedom. Nairobi is reunited in a dreamlike state with other series characters who have died: Oslo, Moscow, and Berlín.

Will the Professor die after being discovered?

Najwa Nimri’s character, Alicia, is a wild card. She decides to expose the truth and bring her colleagues down with her after Colonel Luis Tamayo asks her to take the fall for leaked emails coordinating Río’s torture. The police issue an arrest warrant for her, but before they can find her, Alicia discovers that her fellow officer, Antoñanzas, is a mole for the thieves.

She is able to piece together the Professor’s location using security tapes from Antoñanzas’s apartment. As he tries to flee, Alicia fires her gun, and the two face off as the finale concludes. Does this imply that he will die? Will Alicia, on the other hand, use him to negotiate her own investigation? Will she, in a plot twist, choose to switch sides, as Lisbon did in season 2?

While some fans believe she will join the Professor and his misfit gang of thieves to seek her own vengeance, others believe she will use the Professor to clear her name.
