Mr. Beast revealed that he is still reeling from the shocking end of the Titan Five after he refused an invitation to ride on the submersible that recently imploded en route to survey the wreckage of the Titanic on June 18.

“I was invited earlier this month to ride the Titanic submarine, I said no. Kind of scary that I could have been on it,” he wrote alongside a screenshot of a text message that said, “Also, I’m going to the Titanic in a submarine late this month. The team would be stoked to have you along.”

It was unclear as to whom the text was from as Mr. Beast did not reveal who sent him the text. It could either be the case that OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who also perished in the implosion, sent the invitation to the YouTuber. It was also a possibility that Mr. Beast got the text from any of the other passengers, including British businessman Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood and French explorer Paul-Henry Nargeolet — all of whom met an untimely death in the incident that rocked the underwater exploration community.

Instead of showing any kind of sympathy for those who died or agreeing with Mr. Beast, Twitter CTO took the opportunity to plug his own upcoming space exploration trip by inviting Mr. Beast to tag along. “What about visiting Mars on Starship in 2029?” he wrote with a wondering emoji.

Musk was not the only one who reacted to Mr. Beast’s tweet. Here are some of the reactions from his fans:

A desperate search and rescue mission was launched in order to save the Titan Five after the submersible lost contact with the mothership on Sunday. OceanGate said that there was 96 hours of oxygen backup in the vessel when it went missing, setting an obvious deadline for those onboard.

After the deadline came and went without any signs of where the submersible could be, the United States Coast Guard revealed that they had discovered a field of debris near the Titanic, identified as belonging to the Titan submersible and that the Titan Five likely died when the submersible imploded underwater.

It was determined that the implosion took place after a loss of pressure in the chamber of the Titan submersible. In response, OceanGate announced the presumed deaths of the five crew members, leading to a somber and grieving atmosphere among the company’s employees.
