After their former nanny revealed their split in a shocking interview, Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis have issued a joint statement addressing the matter.

The former couple asserted in the statement that their former employee, who was not named in the interview, was on a “18-month-long campaign” of misconduct.

“As parents, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous accusations about us publicly,” they wrote in a statement distributed by several outlets. “Her now 18-month-long campaign of harassing us, as well as loved ones, close friends and colleagues, has reached its unfortunate apex. We will continue to focus on raising and protecting our children with the sincere hope that she will now choose to leave our family alone.” the statement read.

From 2011 to 2020, Wilde and Sudeikis were in a relationship and had two children, Otis Alexander, 8, and Daisy Josephine, 6. Wilde has since begun dating singer Harry Styles, who starred in her film Don’t Worry Darling.

The ex-couple was reacting to unsubstantiated claims made by an unnamed woman who told the Daily Mail that Wilde had an affair with Styles while she was working for the couple. She also stated that Sudeikis was upset when he found out that she was cheating on him. To back up her claims, the nanny leaked several text messages with both Wilde and Sudeikis.

She claimed that Wilde had discussed marrying Sudeikis just weeks before she made the first move on Styles. Sudeikis also revealed to the nanny that Wilde had abandoned him, and he appeared distressed. The nanny described one special traumatic incident in which Sudeikis lay under Wilde’s car to prevent her from driving away and possibly seeing Styles. “After I’d gotten the kids ready, Jason came upstairs and was having some coffee,” the nanny said on November 9. He was sobbing and mumbling, “She left us.’ She abandoned us!”

Despite saying that Sudeikis fired her, the nanny concluded, “I do have sympathy for Jason because I lived with him and saw him every day and we had a lot of good times. But the bad times were really bad. I feel for Jason because he really wanted to make things work, and he tried. He left everything to go to therapy and to try harder to do better and it didn’t work out.”
