As today marks late actor Rishi Kapoor‘s 69th birthday, his wife, Neetu Kapoor, penned down her feelings in a heartfelt note on Instagram. Rishi Kapoor had been struggling with cancer for two years, having been hospitalised in New York for an entire year.

Neetu Kapoor opened up about how the couple dealt with the highs and lows in the last few heart-wrenching months together in her post, “I learnt a lot from Rishi Ji during our last few traumatic years in NYC .. how we celebrated when his blood counts were high .. we dined shopped laughed .. in his lows we just stayed home watched tv ordered in amazing food n still had some wonderful moments in hope that the next round of chemotherapy he would be better.”

She further talked about how he had been a pillar of strength for her and wrote, “ hope n being strong is what he taught me .. value each day .. we all miss him today !!! I can picture him how excited he would have been for his 69th birthday !! I’m sure he is celebrating with his family up there . Happy birthday Kapoor Saab.”

Earlier this year, Neetu Kapoor commemorated their wedding anniversary with a post, reminiscing about Rishi Kapoor. The duo worked together in several Bollywood films only to end up falling in love and getting married in 1980, after a long courtship period. They have a son, Ranbir Kapoor, who’s an actor, while daughter Riddhima is a Delhi-based jewellery designer. “Would have been 41 years today,” wrote Neetu Kapoor.

Rishi Kapoor lost the battle with cancer on April 30 at 67. He is often remembered by Neetu Kapoor in her social media posts accompanying heartfelt notes about the value of loved ones. “End of our story,” she had written in her goodbye note to Rishi Kapoor.
