‘Nomadland’, directed by Chloe Zhao, won the Best Picture award at Oscars 2021.

‘The Father’, ‘Judas
and The Black Messiah’, ‘Mank’, ‘Minari’, ‘Promising Young Woman’, ‘Sound
of Metal’ and ‘The Trial of Chicago 7’ were the other nominees in the category.

The Academy Awards
were held on Sunday, April 25, at Union Station Los Angeles and the
Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Centre.

Previously, the Oscars required all movies seeking to
take home a trophy had to be in theatres but in April 2020, the Academy
announced that for the 93rd Oscars only “films that had a previously
planned theatrical release but are initially made available on a commercial
streaming or VOD service may qualify.”

Meanwhile, Chloe Zhao took home the best directing award for ‘Nomadland’.
