Season 2 of Outer Banks is out and the show’s actors want everyone to know that there will be lots of drama – much more than we could have anticipated.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s actors revealed some details about the upcoming sophomore season, which is available on Netflix on July 30.

In case you need a refresher- season one concluded with John B and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) probably dead but, as we later found, the two were making their way to the Bahamas searching for some sweet gold.

“John B. and Sarah realised they were on their way to Nassau, where Ward holds the gold,” Chase told EW. “Yet, John B is wanted for a murder he did not commit. The most optimistic person I’ve ever met, John B is always looking at problems with a positive outlook. A murder charge hangs over his head, and the majority of the public believes that he killed a police officer, so it will be interesting to observe how he works.”

“The major question is whether they will live in this nearly Blue Lagoon-like scenario, or will disaster reach them sooner than they realise?” It is, in fact, the latter. “We see everything catching up to them tenfold,” Madelyn said, adding that things will be “much more intense than anybody realises.” Aside from murder framing and gold-seeking, Madelyn hinted that Sarah will be preoccupied with family turmoil, particularly deciding between her chosen family and her blood family.

The members’ interview was followed with an exclusive sneak peek at the season in the form of 12 new pictures, including several behind-the-scenes views, which help to round out the picture when viewed alongside the previously released trailer. Some of the photos show John B and Sarah with Ward (Charles Esten), while others show the five together and making a ruckus.

The series’ founders and executive producers have previously cautioned fans that “Season 2 will put our team to the test like never before.” Everything the fans liked about season one has been amplified — mystery, romance, and bigger stakes.
