The first season of Outer Banks ended with a lot of issues for John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), JJ (Rudy Pankow), and Pope (Jonathan Daviss).

Sarah’s father Ward stole all the Royal Merchant‘s wealth (Charles Esten), Sarah’s brother Rafe (Drew Starkey) was the one who killed John B. Not to mention that the Pogues believe that John B. and Sarah had died in a storm, while they are alive and on their way to the Bahamas. The Pogues haven’t seen anything yet, despite all of that.

Season 2 of Netflix’s sun-drenched teenage drama features a new villain who is about to create havoc on the Pogues meet- Carla Limbrey, played by Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost, Revolution, V). She’s wealthy, powerful, and elitist, but she’s also dying and that means she has nothing to lose if she succeeds. Mitchell tells EW of her new season 2 role, “I truly found her to be fantastic. I was afraid of doing it, so I said yes.”

Putting oneself in the shoes of someone else, such as Limbrey — a lady with money and access but suffering from a fatal illness — was an exciting experience for Mitchell. “It’s sort of exciting to put yourself in that situation and see what you’d do,” she adds. “What would you do if you had all the money and power in the world but you weren’t feeling well? She believes she is something she is not. And I’ve always liked people like that.”

On being asked what types of discussions she had with the showrunners about how she would portray this new antagonist. Mitchell told EW, “Based on how they came up with her, I had some strong opinions. She was a sensation before she was a person, after all. She embodied the sensation of deteriorating affluence and deteriorating elegance. The thing I loved was the sense of mortality, as in, what would you do to save your own life? What is the worth you place on yourself?”
