Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan received an unsigned threat letter on Sunday, just days after the killing of Punjabi singer-rapper Sidhu Moose Wala.

According to a report by ETimes, Salim Khan was out on his morning walk in Mumbai’s Bandra Bandstand promenade when his security personnel came across the letter, which was placed on the bench the 86-year-old usually sits on.

An excerpt from the letter read, “tumhara Moose Wala kar denge (you will end up like Moose Wala).”

The letter is now in the possession of the Mumbai Police. An FIR has been registered for the same.

“Salim Khan contacted the police through his security guard. His statement has been recorded and an offence registered under the Indian Penal Code for ‘criminal intimidation’,” a source told ETimes.

According to reports, police officials are now looking into the CCTV surveillance footage in the area to track down the perpetrator.

The police also dispelled rumors of Salman Khan‘s tightened security after Moose Wala’s death, stating that the 56-year-old receives sufficient security cover every time a threat in the entertainment industry arises.

The incident comes just a week after Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in broad daylight while he was travelling to his village in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29. The 28-year-old was allegedly killed by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the same group that had allegedly threatened to kill Khan in 2018 when the actor was involved in a blackbuck poaching case.

Lawrence Bishnoi, who was recently arrested in a case related to the Arms Act, is currently in prison. In the past, the gang leader, who belongs to the Bishnoi community, had allegedly sent a death threat to Khan, possibly because a blackbuck is viewed as a sacred animal in the tribal community.
