The trailer for actor Rajiv Kapoor’s last film Toolsidas Junior was released on Saturday. Rajiv’s comeback to acting was scheduled to be in this sports drama, which also starred Sanjay Dutt, Varun Buddhadev, and Dalip Tahil.

Rajiv is introduced as Toolsidas, an excellent snooker player who proudly declares that he ‘only plays for his son’ in the trailer. We get glimpses of his prowess as well as those of his son, including the titular Toolsidas Junior (played by Varun). However, after Toolsidas loses a major event against his arch-rival, his son resolves to carry out his father’s wish. For this, he enlists the services of Mohammad Salam, a former snooker champion (Sanjay).

The movie is set in Calcutta in 1994 and is said to be based on true events. In 2018, production on the father-son narrative began. Rajiv was set to make his acting comeback after a 20-year break. However, in January of last year, the actor-director passed away after a heart attack. Shortly before his death, he had completed filming for the picture.

Rajiv Kapoor was the younger brother of Randhir and Rishi Kapoor, and the youngest son of famed actor Raj Kapoor. He appeared in a few films in the 1980s, but is most known for his role in Ram Teri Ganga Maili. After his final film, Zimmedaar, in 1990, he retired from acting. He also directed Prem Granth, a 1996 film starring his brother Rishi.
