To extend support to protesting farmers on the occasion of Kisan Diwas, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has urged its party workers to observe a one-day hunger strike on Wednesday, December 23. 

According to a report by the Times of India, SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal has taken this decision, urging all his party members to take part in a mass one-day hunger strike in a show of solidarity to farmers across India, who are protesting against Centre’s three new farm laws.

Badal said that the farm laws will destroy the future generations if not repealed, reported TOI.

Farmers Protest Day 28 Live: Farmer to decide on Centre’s letter for talks today

The protesting farmers, majorly from Punjab and Haryana who are camping at different border points in Delhi, started an indefinite relay hunger strike on Monday to intensify their stir against the Centre’s three new farm laws. 

India is celebrating Kisan Diwas, or National Farmers’ Day on Wednesday, which comes alongside the 28th day of farmers protest against new agriculture laws.

On Tuesday, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar expressed the hope to resolve the farmers’ issue soon while farmers on Wednesday will decide the central government’s letter for talks. 

The Centre and the farmer leaders have till now held five rounds of talks, all of them which have remained inconclusive.
