The conclusion of the third season of the widely popular show ‘Stranger Things‘ depicted the supposed death of Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour, who is a sheriff who died in an explosion that Joyce, played by Winona Ryder, was forced to set off. The heart-wrenching finale resulted in Hopper’s demise as he attempted to shut the Russian gate to the Upside Down. However, after a post-credit scene sparked speculation that he had survived the explosion, these rumours were confirmed in the show’s first teaser for Stranger Things 4.

The teaser, titled ‘From Russia With Love’ included Hopper as a captive in what seemed to be Russia. Hopper had survived the explosion as the fire merely knocked him off his feet, and did not consume him.

Immediately after, Hopper was captured by Russian soldiers who wanted to exact revenge since he had sabotaged their operation. The soldiers suspect that he is an American spy and relentlessly torture him, only to discover that he does not succumb to the brutalities inflicted on him.

The officials then proceed to send him to Kamchatka with a shaved head, which is revealed to be a secret prison camp in the depths of Russia. As punishment for not giving away information about his comrades, he is forced to become a labourer in building a railway. However, Hopper resourcefully strikes a deal with a prison guard, attempting an escape which doesn’t go as planned and ends in him fighting a Demogorgon from the Upside Down with a group of fellow inmates.

“Stranger Things” is a show set in the 1980’s in Indiana, and involves supernatural events, particularly with regards to an alternate reality called the “Upside Down”.
