American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift dropped her tenth studio album Midnights on Friday, October 21. The fourth track of the album, Snow on The Beach, features singer Lana Del Rey. While fans were already celebrating the surprise collaboration, they have now spotted a reference to Janet Jackson and her 2001 single All for You in the song.

In one lyric of the song, Swift and Del Rey together sing the line, “Now I’m all for you like Janet”. The lyric refers to Jackson’s 2001 album All for You and a single of the same name.

Jackson’s album All for You was a critically and commercially successful album and is considered one of the best ones of her career. It received three Grammy nominations and became one of the best-selling albums of the 2000’s decade. The lead single of the same name became one of the most successful songs of Jackson’s career, breaking multiple airplay records. The song became that year’s biggest hit in the US and received several accolades.

Fans on Twitter came up with various explanations for the reference. One fan pointed out that the reference may have been inspired by the infamous 2009 VMA moment when Swift was interrupted by rapper Kanye West during her award acceptance speech; following which she received flowers from Janet Jackson as a mark of her support for the singer.

After the release of her album today, Swift also released seven additional songs for Midnights’ 3 am edition. “There were other songs we wrote on our journey to find that magic 13, I’m calling them 3am tracks. Lately I’ve been loving the feeling of sharing more of our creative process with you, like we do with From The Vault tracks.”, Taylor Swift wrote while announcing the tracks on her social media. The announcement came just three hours after her album release.
