The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards are on the horizon
and the ceremony is set to air on September 19. Due to the spread of
coronavirus, a record number of audiences viewed television shows. It helped a
number of people get through difficult times. The Emmy’s are essentially an
encouragement for the shows, their actors and everyone else involved behind the
scenes.

The content from streaming services is expected to win big
this year. The hit Netflix show “The Crown” has been nominated for 24 awards while
Apple TV’s “Ted Lasso” has received the nod in 20 categories.
Netflix’s historical drama focuses on the reign of Queen Elizabeth
II. It begins in 1947, the period of Elizabeth’s marriage with Philip. Each
season new characters are incorporated in order to make up for the ageing
process and time periods. The second season is set between the Suez Canal
crisis and Prince Edward’s birth. The third season spans across Harold Wilson’s tenure as Prime Minister. While the fourth season, arguably the best one yet, shows
Prince Charles’s marriage to Lady Diana Spencer.

The show is the hot favourite to bag the award for the Best
Drama series. They have received this nomination for three of its previous
seasons as well but has failed to convert them into a win. However, it seems
like its finally The Crown’s time to shine.
The heart-warming comedy follows American football coach Ted
Lasso’s transition to the United Kingdom. There he is given the responsibility
of leading an English Premier League team, despite not knowing a single thing
about the game. He must lead a dressing room filled with star players, manage
their egos and take them to glory.

In its debut season the show has been nominated for the best
comedy series, an award that its likely to take home. While the show has received
20 nominations, it can win a maximum of nine trophies because of overlaps.
