The cause of TikTok star Cooper Noriega’s premature death has finally been revealed. He died roughly six months ago from an undetermined cause.

According to the Coroner and County Medical Examiner findings from Los Angeles, Cooper died due to a combination of lorazepam, fentanyl, and alprazolam. The presence of clonazepam use was also mentioned in the postmortem investigative findings.

Less than three weeks before his 20th birthday, on June 9, the TikTok star’s body was discovered in a Burbank, California, parking lot. The coroner determined that Noriega’s death was an accident, after it had been earlier ruled by the authorities as the same, and that he passed away in a parking lot.

“Who else b thinking they gon die young af?”, Noriega captioned in a video he made on TikTok, where he had over 3 million followers, shortly before he passed away.

Four days prior, Noriega posted on social media that he was starting a Discord server to talk about mental health and that his followers were welcome to join.

“If you’re really into getting your emotions out, or whatever, come join,” he said in a TikTok video. “I created [the server] because of how much I love you guys and how much I struggle with it myself.”

In the long run, Cooper Noriega said he wanted to open a rehab where nobody was “traumatised” and the staff members were “trusted people”. He concluded the open letter by saying the following was posted to Instagram: (The discord) is meant to bring us all together and create a safe space where people can vent and help others through their tough times.”

Numerous close friends posted their condolences and cherished memories of the social media personality online shortly after his death was confirmed. Blake Gray commented on Cooper’s Instagram post with, “My heart hurts. It doesn’t feel real. Please tell me it’s not real. You always had the most positive energy no matter where we were. Rest easy coop.”

Harold Noriega, Noriega’s father, broke his silence soon after his son’s passing and posted an emotional statement on his Facebook. “Today has been an incredibly difficult time for my family and me. We lost our beautiful 19-year-old Cooper last evening,” he wrote alongside a picture of his late son,” he said. 

Since Cooper’s death, his family has established the Coop’s Advice Foundation, which aims to change the way society views and treats Gen Z’s mental health and addiction.

“Cooper’s life and work shined a light on the urgent need to destigmatize addiction and support comprehensive mental health,” Cooper’s family wrote on Instagram. “The foundation will continue to pursue Cooper’s unique vision through a combination of social and physical mental health experiences, organized community events, and innovative approaches toward using social influence to empower a mental health movement,” they added.
