Late Saroj Khan, a talented choreographer who passed away on July 3, 2020, was a role model for many celebrities, dancers, and even other choreographers. In the Hindi cinema industry, she was regarded as the gold standard. It was thought that her relationship with Madhuri Dixit was the most fruitful. She first gained notoriety with the Saroj Khan-choreographed Ek do teen number from Tezaab, and the actor-choreographer team subsequently provided several other popular numbers in film after film. Here is a collection of some of the top Saroj Khan-choreographed Madhuri Dixit dances.

1. Ek do teen (Tezaab): This song will always make Madhuri swoon. A fairly uninteresting song that director N Chandra didn’t even want in the movie is elevated by Madhuri’s stunning dance and Saroj Khan’s impeccable choreography. The hook step continues to be the most important and influential dance move in Indian film. Anil Kapoor became so uneasy about the finished result that he insisted on having his own male version of the tapori number Ek do teen, which was shot in the streets. However, Madhuri is the one who waltzed into infamy with the numbers game. Shot with 1,000 young performers yelling “Mohini Mohini,” Javed Akhtar’s fake words became the popular song of future generations.

2. Maar daala (Devdas): The masters of cinematic dancing were Madhuri Dixit and choreographer Saroj Khan. Their partnership had always had a special significance. Saroj Khan, in Madhuri’s opinion, had a knack for bringing out the best in her. After a 22-hour flight from Canada, Saroj Khan arrived on the set of For Maar Daala straight from the airport. By the way, Asha Bhosle was the singer who initially sang the song. Just a few days before filming, it was re-recorded in Kavita Krishnamurthy’s voice.

3. Dola re dola (Devdas): Dole re dola in Devdas presented Saroj Khan with the most challenging choreography. Sarojji was ill in addition to having to follow the moves of two professional dancers, Madhuri and Aishwarya. Aishwarya and Madhuri were occasionally being choreographed as she was laying on the studio floor. Sarojji was hospitalised on the day Devdas was discharged. Bhansali and Aishwarya went to see her. In her half-awake state, Sarojji inquired, “Dola re dola pe paise miley ya nahin?” She was curious about if her work was valued even at that point.

4.Ghar morey pardesiya (Kalank): The only reason Madhuri Dixit consented to work with Saroj Khan again after 18 years. The two women were forced to discuss their differences by the shrewd film Moghul. Nobody is entirely sure what set off this protracted Cold War between the famed choreographer and the danseuse-actress. They last collaborated on a project for the Mujra Maar Dala in Devdas. Following that, certain unkind comments made by the erratic choreographer turned Dixit off.

5. Mora piya ghar aaya ho ramji (Yaarana): Only the Madhuri-Saroj Khan pairing could produce a failed movie and a hit song. Today, the only thing people remember about the unofficial Sleeping With The Enemy remake Yaarana is Madhuri swaying to the tune of this Nurat Fateh Ali Khan knockoff. Channe ke khet mein in Anjam was another Saroj-Madhuri song-and-dance that succeeded even if the movie failed. Although Madhuri and her had their disagreements, no one could dance as well as she did, according to Saroj Khan. Mazaa hi kuch aur ttha, unko nachaane mein!
