Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas on Friday announced the birth of their first child, born through surrogacy.
Taking to Instagram to inform the world of the same, Chopra said that she was “overjoyed” at the birth of her child. However, she asked fans for “privacy” in “this sweet time” so that she could “focus” on her “family.”
No other details have been provided and it is not known whether the child is a boy or girl, or what the child has been named.

While the announcement might have come as a surprise to many, others may have anticipated it as the Bollywood and Hollywood actress had hinted at having children earlier.
In an interview with Vanity Fair a week earlier, Chopra was asked whether she had any intentions of having children and whether her mother could hold on to hopes of becoming a grandmother someday. While Chopra did not reveal that a baby was already on its way, she told the publication that having children was a “big part of our desire for the future.”
When Chopra was asked whether she and her husband Nick Jonas were too busy to have children, the actress joked, “No, we’re not too busy to practice.”
“By God’s grace, when it happens, it happens,” added the 39-year-old, referring to the possibility of having a child.

With the child now born, the couple might take a break from their public lives, as already evident from Chopra’s post on her Instagram account.
Indeed, Chopra had told Vanity Fair earlier that both she and her husband were okay with taking it slow with their careers in the event of the birth of a child, saying, “I’m okay with that. We’re both okay with that.”
Fans now are eagerly awaiting further details on the couple’s child, but it’s understood that both Chopra and Jonas might be away from the public spotlight in the days to come.
