Riley Keough, who is grieving the death of her mother Lisa Marie Presley, announced in one of Presley’s memorials in Memphis, Tennessee, that she and husband actor Ben Smith-Petersen welcomed a baby daughter last year. They did not share any other details about the baby. Keough’s representatives, when later contacted, confirmed that the baby was born last year.
“I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters,” Smith-Petersen said at the memorial.
“Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I’m a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart,” he added, remembering Lisa Marie Presley.
Smith-Petersen and Keough both attended the memorial but only the former spoke and also announced the news on behalf of his wife. The duo met while shooting for Mad Max: Fury Road in 2012 and became best friends. They eventually got engaged in 2014.
Their wedding ceremony was held the following year in Nepal where the couple also built a school in a bid to give back to the local community.
Smith-Petersen announced the news on his social media handle with a picture of Keough flaunting her wedding ring.
At the funeral on January 22, well-known people like Austin Butler, Kaia Gerber, and Baz Luhrmann were sighted. Michael Lockwood, Lisa’s ex-husband, also attended with his kids Finley and Harper, as well as Benjamin’s girlfriend Diana.
