Albert Alarr, an American television soap opera director and producer, involvement with the long-running soap opera, Days Of Our Lives, came to an end following allegations of inappropriate conduct and a toxic work environment on the show’s set. The incident culminated in his firing after weeks of protests and an extensive inquiry conducted by distributor Sony Pictures Television.

The catalyst for Alarr’s dismissal was a petition signed by 25 members of the cast of Days Of Our Lives, who accused him of exhibiting inappropriate behavior and fostering a toxic workplace environment. According to reports, he was alleged to have inappropriately touched actors, verbally belittled them, and governed by fear.

These serious accusations prompted the cast members to call for his replacement with a female director. In response to the growing discontent, the show’s executive producer, Ken Corday, not only terminated Alarr’s employment but also announced the implementation of new human resources policies to address the concerns raised by the cast.

The investigation into Albert Alarr’s behavior lasted for nine weeks, during which the producers initially decided to keep him on with a warning and mandated new training. However, this decision resulted in open revolt from the cast, as they believed it failed to bring about any meaningful change. Consequently, the pressure from the cast and the investigation’s findings led to his eventual departure from the show.

In his defense, Albert Alarr issued a statement countering the allegations against him. He asserted that the campaign against him was orchestrated by two unnamed individuals seeking greater pay and influence on the show.

He further claimed that their approach was fueled by playing on vile stereotypes to bring down a Black man in a position of power. Alarr also denied several of the claims made against him, stating that some were false, and others were taken out of context or twisted beyond recognition.
