Beau Is Afraid, the newest movie from Ari Aster and produced by A24, stars Joaquin Phoenix.

The long-in-works film, originally named Disappointment Blvd., is expected to hit theatres in 2023. The character of Phoenix is depicted on the poster as looking like a little child wearing silk pyjamas.

Who is Ari Aster?

Ari Aster is a writer and director known for his horror films. He was born in New York City in 1986 and grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Aster attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he studied film and television production.

Aster’s first short film, The Strange Thing About the Johnsons, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011 and gained attention for its controversial subject matter. In 2018, Aster made his feature film debut with Hereditary, a psychological horror film about a family dealing with the loss of their grandmother. The film received critical acclaim and was a commercial success, earning over $80 million at the box office.

Aster’s second film, Midsommar, was released in 2019 and follows a young couple who travel to a remote Swedish village to participate in a summer solstice festival.
