Lizzo is being sued again, this time by a former tour employee of hers who claims that members of the singer’s team made racist and fatphobic comments. She also claimed to be forced to work extensive hours.

Daniels said that she was hired by Amanda Nomura, a member of Lizzo’s team during her tour in 2023 to work in wardrobe, according to the lawsuit documents, obtained by TMZ. Daniels alleged that her work hours were grueling, at times going for almost 20 hours straight and getting refused breaks.

Who is Asha Daniels?

According to her Instagram page, Daniels, who is an African-American woman, describes herself as a “Fashion Designer, Artist, & Project Runway All-Star.” “I’ll motivate your a**, call me Malcom X,” Daniels’ bio read.

Daniels claimed that Nomura was often making racist and fatphobic comments, allegedly calling Black women on the tour “dumb” “useless” and “fat.” She also claimed that she was told by Nomura that she was not allowed to dress sexy around Lizzo. It was indicated that Lizzo would get jealous when her boyfriend was around other beautiful women.

She recalled one instance when she injured her ankle when Nomura rolled a clothing rack over it. As her ankle was swollen, she wore a pair of Crocs to work. She was allegedly reprimanded and told she needed to put on a pair of tennis shoes.

According to the suit, Daniels said she complained about Nomura’s conduct to Lizzo’s tour manager, Carlina Gugliotta and she was even advised to record Nomura’s behavior as proof. However, Daniels felt that would be unethical. Daniels also believes that her concerns were relayed to Lizzo. However, she was fired before her contract was set to end.

According to Daniels, her experience on the tour has given her ongoing anxiety and PTSD in addition to migraines, ocular distortions, brain fog, and fatigue.

Daniels is represented by Neama Rahmani., who is the same lawyer who sued Lizzo on behalf of the 3 former female employees last month who brought allegations of sexual harassment against the singer. They claimed that they were forced to attend sex shows and were subjected to uncomfortable behavior.

Daniels is suing for sexual harassment, racial harassment, disability discrimination and more and is demanding unpaid wages, loss of earnings, and others.

Lizzo replied to the latest lawsuit, saying, “As Lizzo receives a Humanitarian Award tonight from the Black Music Action Coalition for the incredible charitable work she has done to lift up all people, an ambulance-chasing lawyer tries to sully this honor by recruiting someone to file a bogus, absurd publicity-stunt lawsuit who, wait for it, never actually met or even spoke with Lizzo. We will pay this as much attention as it deserves. None.”
