AR Rahman’s maiden production venture ’99 Songs’ is out in theatres now in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film has got a fresh cast with new faces like Edilsy Vargas and Ehan Bhat playing the lead roles.

Not many know that Edilsy is the first Latina to play the lead in a multilingual Indian film.

In one of the interviews with Times of India, the Oscar-winning composer  said “Out of the 600 odd auditions, Edilsy looked just like we had imagined Sophie to be in ’99 Songs.’ She truly stood out amongst the host of actors.”

She represents the world of art in the film while Ehan plays the role of Jay, a musician.

Born in Santiago, the Dominican Republic, the actor has studied music and painting at Bellas Artes School, developing her love for the performing arts and a particular passion for music.

She tried her hands in modeling before starting doing TV commercials, promotions, and print advertisements.

She has worked as a TV host and has also developed a South American culinary show titled ‘Guia del Bbuen Ccomer’ along with her husband.

She was also part of films such as ‘Peppermint’, and ‘The Manor Anf Luis’ and has developed her own skincare and cosmetic range.
