As per media reports, New Mexico prosecutors have brought an extra charge against her, as she is accused of evidence tampering in the case.

The prosecution claimed in the court document that Gutierrez Reed passed drugs to a different person with the purpose of avoiding being apprehended, prosecuted, or found guilty herself.

Who is Hannah Gutierrez Reed?

Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the armorer, was responsible for loading the gun used by Alec Baldwin on the set of the film “Rust”, which tragically killed the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

She is currently accused of tampering with evidence with a motive to avoid arrest. Hannah Gutierrez Reed was charged after a prosecutor’s report from earlier this month that said witnesses noticed Reed using marijuana and drinking heavily in the days prior to the shooting. The prosecutor also stated that Reed was likely “hungover” when she loaded the gun with the original bullet while shooting.

Prosecutors in a court filing said, “It is likely that Defendant Gutierrez [Reed] was hungover when she inserted a live bullet into a gun that she knew was going to be used at some point by an actor while filming a shooting scene with other actors and crew members.”

The shooting occurred on October 21, 2021, during the filming of a movie in New Mexico. Alec Baldwin was accused of firing the gun, which resulted in the injury of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and director Joel Souza. Tragically, Hutchins succumbed to her injuries and passed away. Initially, Baldwin faced charges related to the incident, but those charges were subsequently dropped.
