Kamala Khan was introduced to Marvel comics in 2014 and quickly became a fan-favorite. She is a teenage Pakistani American from Jersey City, New Jersey, who gains shape-shifting abilities after being exposed to the Terrigen Mist. Kamala idolizes Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) and takes on the name Ms. Marvel to honor her legacy. Her powers include the ability to elongate her limbs, change her appearance, and heal quickly.

Last year, Marvel announced that they had found their Kamala Khan in newcomer Iman Vellani, who will make her debut in the Ms. Marvel Disney+ series. The series is currently in production and will introduce audiences to Kamala’s origin story before her big-screen debut in The Marvels.

Later, she joins forces with Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau to battle an army of aliens from outer space. South Korean star Park Seo-joon also makes a brief appearance in the trailer, adding to the anticipation for this highly-anticipated film.

The Marvels will have a racially diverse, women-led cast, with Brie Larson returning as Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, among others.
