Kristen Stewart, the American actor was named the president of the Jury for the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival. Stewart would lead the panel in selecting the winners of the Golden and Silver Bear top awards. 

“We’re excited about Kristen Stewart taking on this distinguished task. She’s one of the most talented and multi-faceted actors of her generation,” said the 73rd annual Berlinale’s chiefs Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian.

Who is Kristen Stewart?

Kristen was born on April 9, 1990, in Los Angeles, California to father John Stewart and Australian mother Jules Mann-Stewart. John Stewart is a stage manager and television producer. Her mother is a script supervisor and filmmaker. She is younger than her brother, Cameron B. Stewart.  Stewart also has two adopted brothers Dana and Taylor. Her now-divorced parents are both in the entertainment industry. Her mother filed for divorce in 2012, after 27 years of marriage.

Stewart was raised in the San Fernando Valley. She went to local schools until the seventh grade and concurrently gained an interest in acting. She carried her further education through distance mode until graduation. 

The 32-year-old started her career with a non-speaking role in Disney Channel’s The Thirteenth Year film in 1999. After a stream of moderately successful movies till 2007, she made a breakthrough in 2008 with her lead role as Bella Swan in Twilight, a five-part film released from 2008-12. In 2012, she was the highest-paid actress, according to Forbes.

Stewart so far has been nominated for 104 awards, and she has won 66 out of them. The British Academy Film Awards, Cesar Awards, Film Festival Awards, New York film Critics Circle Awards, Boston Society of Film Critics City Awards, Critics Association Awards, MTV Movie Awards, People’s Choice Awards and Teen Choice Awards, are some most prominent among them.
