Sameer Wankhede, top Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, has become no less than a nightmare for all of Bollywood in recent times. A senior official at Narcotics Control Bureau, Wankhede, was the one who probed Rhea Chakraborty’s drug conspiracy involvement in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The man is back in the news after conducting a raid on a cruise ship in

Mumbai where the Bollywood nexus is again a part of.

Sameer Wankhade married to popular Marathi actress Kranti Redkar who has earlier worked with Ajay Devgn in his 2003 film Gangajal. The duo tied the knot in 2017 in an intimate wedding ceremony.

On the career front, Wankhede is a 2008 Batch IRS officer, who was first posted at the Mumbai airport as the Customs Officer. In fact, he and his team managed to seize drugs worth Rs 17,000 crore in the last two years.

His posting and designations from 2008 to 2020 include Deputy Commissioner of Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), Additional SP of National Investigation Agency (NIA), Joint Commissioner of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Zonal Director of NCB.

Interestingly, he has booked over 2,000 celebrities for not paying the taxes. During his time in the Customs department, he reportedly refused to give clearance to several celebrities till the time they agreed to disclose the goods bought from abroad and paid taxes on them.

One of the instances of his service include the time in 2011 when even the World Cup trophy was released at the Mumbai airport only after paying custom duty.

NCB, on Saturday evening, under his leadership, raided a passenger cruise ship anchored in Mumbai and busted a party onboard which involved the usage of drugs. The ship was full of passengers and was bound for Goa. The raid resulted in him recovering banned narcotic drugs from some of those passengers, including a few big Bollywood names.
