Lil Tay, the controversial internet celebrity who gained notoriety in 2018 for her vulgar videos, and her brother Jason Tian have both died. On Wednesday, August 9, the 14-year-old influencer’s family posted a social media confirmation of their passing.

While announcing the young influencer’s death, the family said that her brother had also passed away. In an Instagram post the family, who called Tay by her real name, Claire Hope, said: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing. We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock. Her brother’s passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief.”

Who was Lil Tay’s brother, Jason Tian?

Although Tay’s family withheld the name of the brother right away, prior reports said that the influencer’s sibling was a 22-year-old man named Jason Tian who aspired to be a rapper.

In 2021, a story that accused Jason Tian of fabricating his sister Tay’s internet persona put him in the public eye. Jason established a GoFundMe in the same year for his sister, who had vanished from the public eye in 2018.

Jason accused Lil Tay’s father of abuse on the GoFundMe page and stated that all money donated will be used to cover Lil Tay’s legal costs so that she would have a fighting chance in court to defend herself against the abuser.

In the wake of Lil Tay’s family announcing the sibling’s death, social media appeared aghast over the news and expressed their disbelief over the sudden passing. While the family did not disclose the cause of death, they asked for privacy as they deal with the loss.
