‘Grey’s Anatomy’ fame Ellen Pompeo recently opened up about a time when she had a spat with Oscar-winning actor and director Denzel Washington while filming for an episode that the latter directed.
So, the incident happened when Washington, like several other celebrities who appeared as the guest characters in the show, was roped for directing an episode for season 12 of the medical drama, “The Sound of Silence.

Pompeo in the debut episode of her podcast ‘Tell Her’ told revealed that she had a nasty argument with the director while filming a scene for the show. So, the episode featured Pompeo’s character Meredith Grey’s jaw being broken by an epileptic affected patient and Washington wanted the patient character to apologise to Grey when the time came, a concept that Pompeo disagreed on.
Pompeo added that she did not want the apology scene as she didn’t want to interact with the actor playing the role.
“I did not actually need to speak to this actor or see this actor earlier than we did this scene, so I did not have a lot interplay with him in any respect,” the 51-year-old recalled.

“After which, he apologised to me, however, he was doing it actually softly. He made this alternative to talk very softly. And I used to be pissed that I needed to sit there and take heed to this apology. And he wasn’t me within the eye. Once more, we love actors who make selections. And I yelled at him, I used to be like, ‘Take a look at me! If you apologise, have a look at me!’ And that wasn’t within the dialogue,” she added.
This is when Washington pushed Pompeo to stay to the script and asked her not to interfere in the other actors’ performance since she was not the director, which made the actor even more upset.
“He was like, ‘I’m the director! Don’t you tell him what to do!'” she revealed. “I was like, ‘Listen, motherf–ker, this is my show! This is my set! Who are you telling — You barely even know where the bathroom is!”
