Actor Kevin Costner is rumored to be skipping the final season of Yellowstone. Kevin Costner has officially announced in court paperwork that he will not be present on set for the remainder of 2023.

Earlier, some media reports claimed that Yellowstone will end after the second half of the fifth season, with Costner, 68, completing his tenure as rancher John Dutton in the hit Paramount series to focus on other projects. 

Even though production for the second half of Season 5 is set to begin in a few months, court documents filed in Kevin Costner’s divorce proceedings against his former wife, Christine Baumgartner, 49, indicate that he will not be involved in the filming process. According to Deadline, this revelation raises concerns regarding Costner’s involvement in the forthcoming episodes of the blockbuster show.

As reported by Daily Mail, Costner in court papers stated “I do not anticipate that I will be on location for at least the rest of 2023.”

The development comes as Costner is currently involved in a bitter divorce battle with his wife, Christine Baumgartner. The court document includes explosive claims. According to the records, Kevin Costner will return to California this month to be with his children, signaling a shift in his immediate priorities during the current legal processes.

With this update, the show’s production is in jeopardy due to the ongoing writer’s strike, which has generated disruptions and uncertainty for several long-running Hollywood shows. According to the court records, Costner does not intend to go outside of California for any project until at least 2024. While it is probable that his expectations are influenced by the ongoing writer’s strike, which may impede the filming of Yellowstone scenes.
